Highland was owned by the same family from when it was built to when we purchased it over 40 years later. There was wallpaper everywhere (including on pocket doors) and different flooring in practically every room. Our favorite find was pulling up one carpet only to find a very 70’s print carpet underneath. By using consistent flooring and opening up the doorways between the kitchen and living areas, we created a much more open and cohesive feel to the home. We also updated the finishes to the fireplace and completely updated the kitchen and bathrooms. The primary bath had an odd layout that was challenging to fix, but by creating a large closet in the primary bedroom, we were able to make both the room and bathroom more functional.
